I am new to Webhub. I have two sites registered with Domain Zoo. Since I have paid for years to come, I don't want to transfer registration to Webhub; however, I would like to for Webhub to be my host site.

(1) For one site, I don't know the current host site and cannot find out. I've tried - strange but true. The site has been up for years; I have never been billed; the original host has been out of business for some time now. How do I get the nameserver for this URL pointed to Webhosting hub's name server?

(2) When I signed up for webhub services, I gave the URL mentioned above as my main URL. I also listed another URL for another business. I will soon phase this URL out and I would like to add the another to my web hub account. It is registered with Domain Zoo (and again I have paid for years) but I would like it hosted with web hub. How to set this up with webhub without signing up for domain registration? It has never been hosted before?

Hello AnnKerwin,

1)Unfortunately, since the domain name is not registered under our domain regsitrar, you will need to locate the current registrar for your domain in order to access the interface to change the name servers. If you don't have information on how to reach your current registrar, you can start by running a WHOIS search on internet for the domain name. Simply go to GOOGLE, type in "WHOIS" in the search, and then select Internic-WHOIS option so that you can search for information on your domain name. That should hopefully step you in the first direction.

Here's an article on changing your name servers:

What are my name servers and how do I change them?

2) If you're using a domain registered elsewhere then as per your first question, you will need access the domain interface provided by your domain registrar in order to change the name servers. If you want to use a different domain name for your PRIMARY DOMAIN (the website you designated as your main URL), then you need to submit a request for the CHANGING YOUR PRIMARY DOMAIN email (I'll email this to you from your account after this response). You can also add other domains to your account by creating ADD-ON domains. I'll add the article explaining how to do that at the end of this response.

Domain Registrars manage domains, but they may not necessarily also manage the hosting -which is basically the issue you're facing (your domains are registered with another domain registrar, but we can host the websites using those domain names for you). Web Hosting Hub uses a third party domain registrar, but we can take any domain and use it for hosting websites here. The name server settings are what determine the actual HOST for the domain name. You will need to have access to your domain registrar's interface (or contact them) in order to change the name server settings.

How to add an ADD-ON domain through Cpanel

I hope the explanation helps lead you in the right direction. If you're still puzzled over the issue, please contact us again with further questions and we'll be happy to help.

If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Regards,

Arnel C.
