I have changed the A-Record and CNAME of a domain name I own (managed elsewhere) to point to my webhostinghub IP Address. After DNS propagation the web address now shows me a basic webhostinghub page with the name echub22.webhostinghub.com.

What do I need to do in my CPANEL now to get it to go to a subdirectory on my account. I've been told to set up a subdomain and then a DNS alias. Which I have tried but can't get to work.

I've never done this before, so need step by step guide please.

Thanks

Hello Maxbrooker,

If you're trying to bring the internet traffic HERE using an A record, then you need to create the corresponding subdomain here in the cpanel - under domains.

A Cname is an alias. So, if you want to refer to a subdomain with a different URL, you would create that CNAME.

For example, if you're trying get people to go to xyz.com/sub1/ but you want to use the word calendar instead. The resulting URL would be calendar.primarydominname.com.

Here's a much more thorough explanation of building a CNAME:

How to create a CNAME
