Why does my outgoing mail take so long to send?

When I send a message from my Hub-hosted account, I'll click SEND, and there will be a delay of 15 to 30 seconds before the message actually gets sent. That is as compared to messages sent from other accounts (ATT Uverse), which usually leave the station within a second or two. Is there some way to speed that up, or can anyone tell me why it takes so long?

I'm not referring to how long a message actually takes once it gets going, but how long it takes between clicking Send and seeing any activity at all in the activity status bar.

Thanks for any ideas.

Mac OSX 10.6.8
Apple Mail, version 4.6
Uverse wireless, 11.5 Mbs

Hello Fgh,

In order to troubleshoot your account, I'd need more info, since your Support Center account (under FGH) doesn't link to a hosting account that I can check. You can also contact LIVE support (available 24/7) to check your account if you do not wish this information to be published in a public forum (which the support center is).

If I were to guess at your problem, I'd ask for a little more information like: Are you sending a simple text message or a message with a large attached file? Are you using IMAP or POP? If you're using IMAP and your account has a lot of email in it, then it will take a long time to sync, so make sure your account has finished syncing before sending. OR, archive your email so that your account doesn't synchronize repeatedly for long periods of time as it will definitely affect your email application's performance regardless of which program you're using. FYI - Webmail uses IMAP (webmail includes the Horde, Roundcube and Squirrelmail clients).

If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Regards,

Arnel C.
