attachments received by email

The past few days, I have received attachments whose filename and extension have changed from its original name to winmail.dat

This has happened to several users in our domain and with emails from several different senders.

Can you advise how I stop this from happening? Is it some configuration that needs to be redone?

Hello fausto,

Thank you for your question. This is due to a setting in the sender's MS Outlook program.

Here is a link to Microsoft's official support page on this issue, it provides 4 different methods for correcting this.
