In the past week, I've been getting a number of people signing up for my enewsletter every time I post a new blog. But I can tell these are not actual people/emails, the majority of them are made up. Is there a way I can prevent this? I'm afraid someone will hack into my site. Not sure why I'm getting these bizzarely named "subscribers."

Hello Lynneloi,

Thanks for the question and sorry to hear about the issue with the non-legitimate replies. Typically, many of these replies are done automatically by some type of program. The best way to counter this is to either specifically know who you're sending the newsletter to, OR, to use something that checks to see if they're human or not. One of the most common ways this is done in a blog is through a Captcha. We have an article called Installing the WP-reCAPTCHA WordPress plugin. You can follow that tutorial to install it (since it appears you're using WordPress). There are many other options that you can find on the Wordpress.org site (under plugins). Here's one example: Keypic. Try searching through the tags in plugins using the term "antispam" and you will find many options.

I hope this helps to provide you a solution to your problem! If you require any further assistance, please let us know.

Regards,
Arnel C.
