Hello, I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this but I have several websites that were done for me. One is my ebook at www.thriftstoregoldmines.com. I pay a monthly fee on box.net to upload files to share with others and it dawned on me, can't I do that with my site by creating a folder in the cpanel and share the files from there? I'm not sure if the files have to be related to the site, etc. I don't want to pay this fee if the only reason is because people don't have their own website to store files. thank you!

Hello frchgrl,

Thank you for your question about creating folders for downloadable files. If the files in question relate to your website (for instance if the file is your e-book you are selling) then you could create a folder, password protect it and then give the information to the people you want to allow to download.

A potential issue with this is that people could share the login credentials with others who have not paid to purchase your e-book. A better solution would be to use an e-commerce solution that allows you to sell digital/downloadable content. All three of the e-commerce programs that can be easily installed via Fantastico De Luxe offer that functionality.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.

Regards,

Christi N.
