I want to make a socket connection with a outside server. I have already accomplished this. Next I want to make a socket connection that is always listening to the outside server I.e., not executed through a browser. How can I do this?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hello jamorga37,

Thank you for your question regarding a PHP persistent socket. On a shared server PHP scripts should be temporary, or momentary, since long or constantly running scripts can drive up usage.

If you need to connect constantly to a server then we would recommend a vps or dedicated server.

Here is a link to some alternate hosts who offer these types of servers.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.
Thank you,

-John-Paul
