I have a new hosting account and I am having problems with Joomla. When I do certain things I get a 406 not acceptable error. I have read through the support center as well as other forums and have found that this is usually caused by the mod_security mechanism. I contacted support and got this turned off but I am still getting this error. Can anyone help as this hosting is useless to me if I cannot use Joomla.

Many thanks in advance.

Hello ciimit,

I'm sorry you're having trouble with mod_security rules in Joomla. Your domain is not currently pointed to our Nameservers. We disable mod_security rules by domain, so when you're testing Joomla through the temp URL, unfortunately the rules wouldn't actually be disabled.

I would recommend performing a hosts file mod so that you can test the site with the mod_security rules disabled. Please see our tutorials on How to modify your hosts file in Windows or How to modify your hosts file on a Mac for the steps to perform a hosts file modification on your local computer.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.

Regards,

Christi N.
