Hi,
I want to transfer my website and files to a sub domain. Is there a simple way to do this?

If I move all the files (wordpress) to the sub domain folder in public_html will the database be able to connect. Meaning all I have to do is change the wp-config setting for the website home?

Thanks in advance

Regards Bruce

Hello Bruce,

Thank you for your question about moving your WordPress site to a subdomain. Once you have moved all of your WordPress files into the subdomain folder, you will need to update the wp-config.php file two tell WordPress where the new location of the website is. The lines will look similar to:

define('WP_HOME','http://example.com/newlocation');
define('WP_SITEURL','http://example.com/newlocation');

For step-by-step instructions (including editing the wp-config.php file) please see our article Moving WordPress to a different folder.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.

Regards,

Christi N.
