I'm new to web design. I have a mock-up of the website I want to create. I want to use Wordpress, but cannot find a theme that is highly customizable. The site must have link to facebook, paypal and capability to blog. Very simple website - to sell a book, so I have book info, book images, about the author, etc ... in a mountain setting (colors of blue, brown, gold, red). My question- do you know of a theme(s) that might meet this criteria or do you know of a different means of designing this site. I already have the domain and hosing service

Hello Tekatoo,

Thanks for the question. WordPress was actually specifically made as a blog software. Also, it's the most widely used software for websites on the internet (about 58% of all websites use Wordpress). ALL the themes can be manually customized, but I understand what you're getting at - if you're not a coder, then it won't be immediately obvious. More on this question in just a moment.

WordPress gains a LOT of its flexibility from the plugins that are available - most of them for free. These include the social media links that you seek - do a search for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc in the add-ons section of the WordPress.org website. Paypal, can be used through plugins as well.

Getting back to the theme/appearance issues.. Try loading the Customizr theme, then view their tutorial. It quickly shows you how you can change the color, graphics, titling, and background graphics. You would need to have a picture of a mountain background that you can use on your page. It's very quick and easy to use. You will need to load WordPress first of course. It's easiest to install it through Softaculous. You can find installation instructions and much more in our WordPress Education channel. If you're not using our services, then you can refer to the WordPress Installation instructions here.

I hope this helps to clarify the issue for you. If you require further assistance, please let us know!
