ICANN domain transfer policies have changed as of 1 December 2016.

Please note that if you do not complete the transfer steps below, then your domain will remain under the management of Web Hosting Hub.

Transferring a domain away from Web Hosting Hub requires several steps. Web Hosting Hub is a reseller of domain registrations using a domain registrar named OpenSRS. Before you can move the domain to a different domain registrar you must first meet the requirements for the transfer. These requirements unlock the domain, obtain the authorization, and submit the request for the domain to be moved using the authorization code. Keep in mind that it is not required to transfer a domain if you want to use it on a different hosting service. Please see Domain Registration transfer versus Nameserver Change for more information. The steps below will take you through the process of transferring your domain to a different registrar.

Requirements To Transfer Domain Away from OpenSRS

  • Domain must be in good standing (i.e. not expired, not in redemption, etc.)
  • Newly purchased domains must wait 60 days before they can be transferred
  • Notifications for the transfer use the Administrator Email set for the domain. Access to that email is therefore required.
  • Domain privacy must be removed before it can be moved.

The official ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) documentation for these requirements can be found here.

Steps to Transfer domain away from Web Hosting Hub

After you confirmed that you meet the above requirements, please follow these steps below to process your domain transfer:

  1. Contact our live technical support team to request that you want to unlock your domain in order transfer your domain to another.

  2. Unlock domain and get EPP key

When the request for the release of the domain has been received technical support will double-check to make sure that you meet the requirements before they proceed. They will then unlock the domain and send an email to you titled, "Domain Management Rights Released - InMotion Hosting, Inc."

  3. Search for domain to transfer

You will also get an email to reset the password that you will use to log into the OpenSRS interface for their authorization code. Reset the password as necessary.

  4. Manage your domain

Go to the OpenSRS interface then log in.

  5. Domain extras

When you are in the OpenSRS interface, click on Domain Extras.

  6. Enter Domain Auth code

Next, you will either approve a pre-entered code or input your authorization code in the Domain Authorization Information section.

  7. Click on Save Configuration after you have completed making your changes. Click Cancel Changes to cancel the process.

This completes the process of transferring a domain away from Web Hosting Hub. Please note that domain transfers may take 7-10 business days to complete.
