Cart Rules in Prestashop are usually assigned to people.  As opposed to Catalog Rules that apply specifically to products in your shop inventory, cart rules (vouchers) may often be given specifically to a person or group of people.  The following tutorial shows how to assign a customer or customers to cart rules in PrestaShop 1.5.

Adding Customers to Cart Rules in PrestaShop 1.5

  1. Login to the Administrator Dashboard as an Administrator
  2. Go to the menu bar and hover over PRICE RULES. Click on CART RULES when the drop-down menu appears.  You will see a screen similar to the following:

Click on the ADD NEW button in order to create a new cart rule, OR, select an existing cart rule from the list. When the new rule or existing rule opens, look to the left and select CONDITIONS in order to open the CART RULE CONDITIONS tab.

The condition that we will be working to set is labeled LIMIT TO A SINGLE CUSTOMER

  3. Click on the field next to LIMIT TO A SINGLE CUSTOMER and begin typing in a customer name. As you type, if names match the letters you have entered a drop-down menu will appear from which you can select the customer's name.  Note that if you leave this field BLANK, then as per the instructional text below the field, the cart rule will be available to all of your registered customers.

  4. Once you have selected the customer name, then you have completed the process of isolating who can use the cart rule.  Click on the green SAVE button in the top right hand corner to save your entry.

Cart Rules, which are also known as Vouchers or Coupons, can be assigned to a particular customer of your shop using the PrestaShop interface.  Use this option to limit who can use your vouchers and coupons as per your customer and shop needs.  Not assigning the cart rule means that it will apply to everyone registered to your store.  The next option that you can set to limit the use of a voucher or coupon are the conditions based on time.  To see more information on this topic, go to Setting the Expiration Date for Vouchers in PrestaShop 1.5.
