shopping cart shipping priceIn this guide we will show you how to install and configure the Flat Rate shipping module in Zen Cart. This can be accomplished quite easily from the Administration Panel of Zen Cart.

Flat rate shipping can be appealing to customers, because you can let them know how much the shipping is before they get to the point of checkout.

Setting up Flat-Rate Shipping:

  1. Login to the Admin Panel of Zen Cart.
  2. Roll your mouse over the Modules option in the menu, and select the Shipping option.
  3. Select the Flat Rate option from the list, and click the +Install button to the right. You will see a menu drop down with several fields.
    OptionDescription
    Enable Flat Rate Shipping

    True turns this option on and makes it available in your eshop.

    False disables flat-rate shipping.

    Shipping Cost Enter the standard shipping price in this field without the dollar sign, the default value is 5.00
    Tax Class Select a Tax Class from the drop-down menu, if you want to charge tax on the shipping.
    Tax Basis

    This field allows you to choose how you want to tax shipping.

    Shipping - Taxes customers according to their shipping address.

    Billing - This option taxes customers according to their billing address.

    Store - If you make this selection, customers will be billed based on the location of the store.

    Shipping Zone You can select a Zone from this drop-down menu, only customers in this zone will receive this flat shipping option. The shipping rate option  will have to be setup individually for separate zones. 
    Sort order Lower numbers entered here will be displayed higher on the shipping modules list.

    After making your selections, click the update button to save your changes. Flat rate shipping will now be available in your Zen Cart eshop.
