Setting up Zone Rate Shipping in in Zen Cart

In this tutorial we will show you how to setup Zone Rate shipping in osCommerce. We will first install the Zone rates shipping module, then go over the settings that can be edited. Zen cart allows you to setup 3 separate zones within this one module, which allows you to group countries together and set their shipping rates separately. 

How to Install the Zone Rates Shipping Module:

1. Login to your Zen Cart admin panel.
2. In the navigation menu, roll your mouse over the Modules option, then select Shipping.
3. On the list of shipping modules, select Zone Rates then click the +install button to the right. The zone rates shipping module is now available.

Updating the Zone Rate Modules Settings:

There are 3 zones that can be setup, we will now go over the settings for this module.

1. In the Shipping modules list, select Zone Rates, then the edit button to the right. 
   
   You will have some setting fields available, fill them in as needed:
   

   Option	Description
   Enable Zones Method	True enables, this shipping option. If you select False, this shipping option will not be available. It will still be installed, just 'turned off.'
   Calculation Method	Choose if you want the shipping rate calculated by Weight, Price, or Item.
   Tax Class	Choose the tax class from the drop down menu, if you want to charge tax on the shipping.
   Tax Basis	As per Zen cart:  Shipping - Based on customers Shipping Address Billing - Based on customers Billing address Store - Based on Store address if Billing/Shipping Zone equals Store zone
   Sort Order	The number you enter here will affect where this option will display on the modules list. Zero will be at the top of the list, and higher numbers will be further down the list.
   Skip Countries, use a comma separated list of the two character ISO country codes	Enter 2-character country codes here if you want them excluded from this shipping option.
   Zone 1 Countries	Enter the 2-character country codes here that you want to be grouped into Zone 1. If you enter 00 it will will include every country in this Zone.
   Zone 1 Shipping Table	This field is where you set the table rates. For example:   20:5.50, 30:7.25, 10000:10  This would mean by Price:  $0-$19.99 = $5.50 $20-$29.99 = $7.25 &  $30 or more would be = $10.00 By Weight this would be: 0-19.99lbs = $5.50 20-29.99lbs = $7.25 30lbs or more will be = $10.00 By Item would be: 0-19 items = $5.50 20-29 items = $7.25 30+ items = $10.00   You can also charge a percentage of the order total, for example:20:5.5%, 30:7.25, 10000:3%  This would mean by Price:  $0-$19.99 = 5.5% $20-$29.99 = $7.25 &  $30 or more would be = 3% By Weight this would be: 0-19.99lbs = 5.5% 20-29.99lbs = $7.25 30lbs or more will be = 3% By Item would be: 0-19 items = 5.5% 20-29 items = $7.25 30+ items = 3%
   Zone 1 Handling Fee	If you are charging a handling fee, enter it in this field.
   Handling Per Order or Per Box Zone 1 (when by weight)	Choose if you want to charge handling fee per box, or per order.
   Zone 2 Countries	Enter the 2-character country codes here that you want to be grouped into Zone 2. If you enter 00 it will will include every country in this Zone.
   Zone 2 Shipping Table	*See the Zone 1 Shipping Table above for an in-depth explanation.
   Zone 2 Handling Fee	If you are charging a handling fee, enter it in this field.
   Handling Per Order or Per Box Zone 2 (when by weight)	Choose if you want to charge handling fee per box, or per order.
   Zone 3 Countries	Enter the 2-character country codes here that you want to be grouped into Zone 3. If you enter 00 it will will include every country in this Zone.
   Zone 3 Shipping Table	*See the Zone 1 Shipping Table above for an in-depth explanation.
   Zone 3 Handling Fee	If you are charging a handling fee, enter it in this field.
   Handling Per Order or Per Box	Choose if you want to charge handling fee per box, or per order.

   After making your selections, click the update button to save your changes. This shipping option will now be available to customers when they checkout.
