WordPress 4.8 release The Update includes new features such as new media widgets and an updated text widget

WordPress has released version 4.8 named "Evans" after the jazz pianist and composer William John “Bill” Evans. The updates include three new media widgets:

  • Image Widget - easily add an image to a widget
  • Video Widget - easily add any video from the Media Library
  • Audio Widget - provides an interface to play an audio file through a widget
