Does the SQL database name and user name have to match cPanel?

When you create a SQL DB in the wizard it appends a 7 character code and underscore to the username. Does that string, "1234567_admin", as an example, have to be changed when you import a DB that has the user name of just admin? Same goes for the naming convention of the DB itself.

Hi arjay,

Great questions about working with databases. All database names and usernames are prefixed with your Web Hosting Hub cPanel username. You cannot change that prefix, as it is set by the system.

When you import a database, you are simply importing data, so the user name used with your previous database should not be a factor. You will choose database you want to import into during the import process in phpMyAdmin.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.

Christi N.
