Mysql time zone tables

Apparently the timezone tables are not loaded in the mysql databases that I have created.

If I run the query SELECT CONVERT_TZ('2012-06-07 12:00:00', 'GMT', 'America/New_York'); I get a result of NULL.

Can the time zone tables be loaded?

Hello 2050design,

The timezone info is not on any of the MYSQL installations on any server by default. It is not something that can be enabled on a per user basis as it requires root access in MySQL and will affect everyone.

If, however, you are looking to set a timezone in a program, you can set that in your php.ini file under the setting date.timezone For example, to set the php timezone for East Coast in the US the setting would be date.timezone="America/New_York"
