Why is the mySQL timestamp not in UTC time?

When I use the mySQL column timestamp and set the attribute to current_timestamp. The timestamp is in a different timezone then UTC? Why is this?

Hello RonWon,

The attribute current_timestamp is not set to utc, but is a synonymn for the now() command, giving the datetime set on the server, which is either EST/EDT or PST/PDT for the US. MySQL does have a utc_timestamp attribute you can use instead.
