How do you delete a password protected directory

Hello proflo7,

If you mean delete the folder itself, you do that via the cpanel File Manager by highlighting the desired folder, then selecting the Delete icon from the upper menu bar.

If you mean deleting the usernames from the list:

  1. log into the cPanel

  2. go to the Security category

  3. click on the Password Protect Directory tool

  4. find the particular folder you are working with and click on the name of the folder from the list.

  5. This brings up the list of users attached to it at the bottom. You can simply highlight the users and hit the Delete User button next to them to remove them from the list.


Additionally, if you wish to simply turn off the password protection, there is a checkbox in the upper portion of the screen named "Password protect this directory". Uncheck that box to turn off the feature for that folder.
