What directory should I use to FTP files?

I see there is, in addition to the /public_html directory, a /public_ftp directory.
How would I use this? I have created FTP accounts, but they all default to sub-directories under /public_html.
Should I just use the /public_html directory for everything, or is there a better way?

Hello geg_suncoast,

Thank you for using our forums. I'm sorry you're having trouble with FTP file structure. I'm more than happy to assist you.

Basically, any file that you wish to have display on your website will need to be located in your public_html directory. This directory is referred to as your document root. If you want to upload documents elsewhere you would change the document root for each of the FTP accounts. Please keep in mind, that any file that you want the public to view will need to be in the public_html folder. Typically, you will not need to use the public_ftp folder.

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us. Thank you!
