What is my primary FTP user name?

Hello,

I have just recently purchased a pre-designed blog from intothedarkroom.com. I cannot not install the website yet because I cannot find the information they need. I went into my cPanel to acquire FTP information. I believe I added a user.

I was told by intothedarkroom that the reason I couldn't install the blog was because I was using a secondary FTP, and not the primary one. They said I could use the secondary FTP as long as it was connected to the root folder. The information I need to install through intothedarkroom is
1) FTP hostname 2) FTP username and 3) FTP password
It also asks for the root folder.

This is all like a foreign language to me. Where can I find this information? Should I have not added a user to my FTP account?

I'm sorry you're having trouble uploading your files. Your cPanel user is also an FTP account (this is probably what they meant by "primary"). The cPanel user has full access to all files in your account, not just the ones needed for your website. The document root folder for your main domain is public_html directory. Your FTP hostname is usually your domain name. However, if you have not pointed your domain to our Nameservers or pointed the domain less than 24 hours ago, then you will want to use either the server name or shared IP address of the server for the host name. The FTP username will be either the cPanel user name or and FTP account you create through cPanel. The password will be either the cPanel password or the password you assign to an FTP account when you create it.

While checking into this for you, I see that an additional FTP account was created, but that FTP account was assigned to a directory under public_html and can only access that subdirectory. If you would like to create an FTP account that has access to just the public_html directory, you will want to make sure that public_html is set as the Directory for that FTP account (the full path would look something like: /home/userna6/public_html). FTP accounts cannot go above the directories they are assigned to.
