Hi. Probably doing something stupid but I need to change a file permission. Tried via FTP but doesn't work so assumed that because system requires permissions to be changed via cPanel. In cPanel file manager I can see all the folders OK but don't see any files. What am I missing? Thanks

Hello Jovial Ghost,

I'm sorry you're having trouble changing file permissions through FTP and viewing files in the cPanel File Manager. I tried recreating this issue by creating a test FTP account in your cPanel. I did not have any issues changing file permissions on a file (tested on .htaccess.txt). I also do not have any trouble viewing files in your account through the File Manager.

Can you please provide us a few more details so that we can assist you in resolving this? Which folder or files are you trying to change permissions on and what do you want to change those permissions to? What FTP program are you using, and did you receive any errors when you tried to change file permissions in that folder. When you're logging into your cPanel, what browser and version of that browser are you using? There may be a conflict between cPanel and the browser.

We look forward to assisting you in resolving this as soon as possible.

Regards,

Christi N.
