I am developing a site with WebMatrix and Orchard and when I publish to my public_html directory, nothing works. What am I not doing?

Hello AdminMike,

Your site is currently showing a list of files that are on the server because there are no webfiles (.html, .php), specifically an index (index.htm, index.html, index.php) page.

I do see that it has dlls which are not made to run on a Linux server, but on a Microsoft Internet Server. I do not see what extension the actual site files would be, but if they too are of a Microsoft specific format (.asp, .aspx) then they will not run on our servers either.

Some Microsoft products produce web pages and files in standard formatting (.html, .htm, .php) and can be used on any webserver. Those programs are FrontPage and the newer Web Expressions.

Please check to see if Orchard can create files like that to be able to work on our servers.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any more questions or information specific to the issue please leave a comment below so we can further assist you.

Best Regards,
Scott M
