I am trying to add a photo to my slideshow

i went to systems>design>banners
I clicked on add banner button, typed in a title and hit the browse button.
I uploaded the photo, even saw the thumbnail on the page. But when I hit save, and it says I was successful, but it doesn't get added to the four I have up. I was told I could add additional images but have not been able to
