(404) Errors when i turn on SEF in joomla 1.5

Hey guys when i turn on SEF in joomla 1.5 all my links give me a Not Found (404)error eveything work fine when its turned off but i really need it on.Thanks

Hello p05thuman,

Programs such as Joomla come with a file named htaccess.txt that contain code to handle things like this. The format of htaccess.txt however, is not usable. You will want to enter your cpanel File Manager and go to your public_html folder.

From there, delete the current .htaccess file (it is bsically empty) and then rename the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess (do not forget the period at the front, it is very important)
