Joomla SEF Settings

I am changing webhost to current site and website is set with temp URL.
When i turn on SEF in joomla 1.5 all my links give me a Not Found (404)error eveything works fine when its turned off.
The htaccess.txt file in public_html already reads '.htaccess'.
Very much a novice, any clues?

Hello Davidos,

What you want to do is perform a hosts file modification on your site. This should allow you to use your actual domain name from your location and the SEF URLs should then perform correctly.
