Create members only area of site with Premium Website Builder

I would like to password protect a members only page on my site. The members only page will have 4 sub pages in it and I want to make them all need a password

Hi Chief59,

Thank you for your question about password protecting parts of your website. While there is an easy way to password protect directories (folders) through cPanel, this only applies to pages inside of that directory. This would be an issue with the builder as it publishes to one directory, not multiple directories.

The best way to create a website with a members only area is to use a Content Management System such as WordPress, Joomla or Drupal which have plugins you can add to give you this functionality.

I highly recommend WordPress since it can be as simple or as robust as you want it to be. If you do choose to use WordPress, here are some membership plugins I found that you might like to try out:

Hi Chief59,

The password protect feature is only available for password protecting a directory. You are unfortunately not able to password protect a single file, it must be a directory (folder).

For example, you CANNOT password protect domain.com/file.html, but you can password protect domain.com/about-us. If you password protected the about-us folder, all files under it would require a password, such as:
domain.com/about-us/history.html
domain.com/about-us/future.html

The problem is that the Builder does not allow you to publish files to subdirectories. You can have domain.com/history.html but you cannot have domain.com/about-us/history.html

The answer to your question is that within the Premium Website Builder, there is not a built in way to password protect a page, nor in cPanel can you accomplish this. If you really need to do it, you could use the File Manager to move the pages to a separate folder after you've published it, and then use the password protect a directory tool to password protect that directory. This however is a 'dirty' approach to the task, and may be a bit difficult if you don't have previous experience doing such things.

Also, keep in mind that if you move the files to their own directory, you will no longer be able to edit them within the Site Builder.
