I tried to submit a site map to Google after setting up a site map in the built in Premium website builder on webhosting hub, and Google site map evaluation returns this error code:

"Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead."

I noticed the site map url extension is .php, not xml or html. Is this normal for a web page site map?
Could you tell me how it needs to be changed for Google webmaster tools to read it?

Hello Kevhig,

You need to be using a XML Sitemap. There are many tools out there for creating a site map. You can simply run a search in Google for one. Here's an example of one:

Creating a sitemap isn't something I can explain in a few steps. Here's a good article straight from Google on manually making a Sitemap:

Manually Creating A Sitemap

Hopefully, this points you in the right direction! If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Regards,

Arnel C.
