keep website, change parent domain?

Hi, I am wondering what it would take to keep a subdomain, but release the parent domain. currently we have www.maltahouseofprayer.com registered, and a secondary domain www.mrpcmalta.com that we are actually using, but it seems to be within the first domain within the ftp directories. Know what I mean?

Any way to drop the maltahouseofprayer.com domain and keep the mrpcmalta.com domain?
