Hi all,
Yes, I am a newbie. I just wrote the tech department about transferring a google site. The answer was no. Ok, can I start a new website and somehow copy all the words over to the new site? Of course, the google site was a finished draft and was not hosted. I'm sure I will lost all the design links (I'm a home designer). If I could transfer the wording to the new website it sure would save me headaches.

Thanks in advance,
Cliff

Hi Chiefcliff,

Welcome to Web Hosting Hub! Great question about transferring a site from Google. The reason we do not recommend trying to transfer your Google Site files is because Google has their own builder which you use to create your site with them. While technically you could download the files and images used, you would not be able to edit them unless you were comfortable with editing HTML and CSS code.

The good news is you can most certainly transfer just the content (the wording) of your site from Google over to your new site here. You can pull up each page of your site with Google, select the text on the page and then copy that text and paste it into either a word processing file (like Word for example) or even a text editor (like Notepad or TextEdit). You can then save the content from each page as a separate file so it's easier for you to organize when you begin building your new site.

Once you begin creating your site here through your Web Hosting Hub account (either using the Premium Website Builder, WordPress, etc.) you can then open up each of the content files you created above and copy and paste that information into your new site pages. Please note, if you are using the Premium Website Builder and saved your content using Microsoft Word, please make sure you follow the steps outlined in our article How to Copy and Paste from Microsoft Word to the Premium Website Builder.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need any further assistance.

Regards,

Christi N.
