There are a ton of ways in which you can choose to create your website. You can do something as simple as creating HTML files on your local computer and uploading them to the server, or a lot of beginners start with our Premium Website Builder which I believe is probably what you saw when you were referencing templates. You can also use one of the many CMS (Content Management Systems) that are available on our service, such as WordPress, Joomla, Concrete5, Drupal, or Moodle.
It really comes down to personal preference and how comfortable you are with working in the various applications. I usually recommend when getting started to try a few of the different options at once, and if one stands out to you as a much better option, go ahead and keep pushing forward with that one.
We have a lot of great educational channels for some of the various software you can run on your account. There is the Premium Website Builder, WordPress, and Concrete5 as the general multi-purpose ones. If you were trying to build an eCommerce site we also have resources on osCommerce, PrestaShop. You can check out our main Education Channel page for all the ones we have so far.
You also have access to the powerful Softaculous installer on our service as well. This will allow you to easily install over 200 applications into your hosting account within a few clicks. I'd recommend installing each application you'd like to give a shot into a different sub-directory on your account. Once you've played around and found the one that works best for you I'd recommend uninstalling everything and then installing that one in your main directory so that your entire website is run with that application and your visitors don't have to enter in a sub-directory to get there.
If any of that seems like too much of a time investment for yourself, there is also always our custom web design services, where you just define with us the goals you'd like to achieve with your site and the general way you'd like it to look and our team of web design experts will do the work for you.
I hope this information helps, if you run into any bumps along the way, or have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask as that's what we're here for!
