I am needing to update Wordpress and three of my plugins. I would like to ensure that I have backed up everything that is necessary to restore the site if updating causes issues. Is FTP (Filezilla) my best alternative?

Hello timothybibleclass,

Thank you for your question about backing up your WordPress site. Because WordPress also uses a dataase, you will want to make sure that you not only back up the files in your directory, but also your WordPress MySQL Database as well.

Please see our article on Creating a Website Backup in your cPanel and either create a full backup of your account or use the partial backup option and backup your files and database separately. Please note, if you choose to use the full backup option and a restoration is needed in the future, our Systems Team would need to do that restoration for you.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need any additional assistance.

Regards,

Christi N.
