I’m wordpress newbie (with previous html experience) in the dashboard, and trying to set up my homepage/website without much success. I've created a few test pages.

I'd like it to have the following features:

1. Be static (not blog).
2. Have three columns:
a) left for navigation, menus.
b) center for main, content
c) right for ads, adsense.
3. I want to upload my own gif left column.
4. The homepage frame/format will be the same for all other webpages.

Here are some examples of what I am interested in.

Thanks in advance.

Hello caspianblacksea, and thanks for the questions. This is a pretty loaded one, and you might need to refer to some of WordPress's own documentation or reach out directly to the WordPress community for very in-depth explanations on how to do some of these things, but I'll try to get you started.

To create a static WordPress site instead of a blog, you would want to create "Pages" instead of "Posts", this is touched on in our WordPress education channel article:

WordPress 101: Create pages

You can then read about how you can configure your home page settings to be a static page:

WordPress 101: How to configure your home page

In order to have a three column layout, you're going to want to either start off with a theme that is already setup this way, or modifying an existing one to work this way:

WordPress 103: Finding a new theme

You can directly see some three column themes available for WordPress here:

Three column WordPress themes

To learn about modifying a theme to your own custom specifications we have another article for that:

WordPress 308: Modifying your template by using the WordPress editor

That should hopefully be enough information to get you going in the right direction. We unfortunately don't provide coding support, so if you have more specific questions as to how exactly to modify your theme to your liking, I'd recommend checking out WordPress's documentation on this and then reaching out to the WordPress development community for further help:

WordPress theme development

WordPress community forums for themes and templates

I really hope that is the type of information you were looking for. If you do have any further questions at all, please let us know!
