How to Disable Some WordPress Theme Elements? (Part 2)

Hi Brad,

I'm actually interested in both overriding styles of a parent theme and in trying to disable extra features added by the theme.

Editing style sheets I don't really know how to do yet. So I was wondering if you knew how that copy-and-paste style sheet (in Part 1) for the child theme would actually work with making changes easily in the parent theme. What's possible with this? ThemeShaper says it works, but I got that error noted in Part 1.

Thank you for the RSS disabling in the Readings settings. Might you know if a universal tag or attribute exists like a "no" in "noframes" or "noscript" that you can apply to any selector or property in CSS? Or something like that?

Hi t16skyhopper,

I'm not familiar with WordPress child themes, but I can tell you after reading the documentation that using a child theme is going to be much more complicated than simply editing the current CSS of the theme. Like Kevin stated, if you can respond with the domain in question and how we can replicate the error you received, we can take a quick look at the code to determine what may need updating.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you are referring to by a universal tag similar to noscript that you can apply to CSS? Are you trying to comment out CSS code? If you can give a specific example of what you're trying to do, I'll be more than happy to look into it further, and it may clear up some of the confusion too.

Sorry that we missed your comment in the other question, I'll be sure to monitor the comments closely today on this question so that there isn't a delay next time.

I checked the step by step that you provided, I did a test one on my WordPress account and it seemed to work properly. If you don't mind, is your WordPress site currently "up" where I can view it and check the files? There may just be a simple issue of some syntax that is causing the error you are receiving, and I'd like to get this resolved as quickly as possible for you.
