Thank you for your feedback!
Concrete5 and Wordpress are both PHP based, open-source content management systems (cms), used for managing or maintaining websites. At first glance they look similar, but when you dig into the Dashboard or the backend of the websites they are actually quite different. In this tutorial we will compare these website design software suites, so that you will have a better understanding of which one will better suit your needs.
What do they look like?
The simlilarities are apparent as we look at the default installations of both, this is how they will look after installation. You can change the style and feel of both options by using themes or add-ons, Wordpress is more commonly used, so it offers more free options from many download sources. However, this also can cause issues since the themes, plugins and addons are created by separate 3rd party developers and can sometimes have conflicts with other plugins or themes.
Concrete5 offers many add-ons, but they are offered via the built-in Marketplace that is controlled by Concrete5, due to this requirement they tend to have less compatibility issues.
What do they do?
Concrete5 was originally created as a way to quickly and easily design and build your website. Also, Concrete 5 has more of a drag and drop type of interface, which many people find very intuitive and simple to use. There are many Add-ons available that add functionality, however many of them must be purchased.
Wordpress was created as a blogging software at first, but it is so adaptable that it is used for everything from ecommerce sites to forums. This is due to the many plugins and themes that are available for Wordpress for free or for sale.
How much do they cost?
Both of these content management systems are free. This is great since these are very powerful software suites that really simplify the development of websites. However, there are additional Add-ons, plugins, and themes that are available for both that are free or for sale.
What is a Dashboard?
Wordpress and Concrete5 both have a Dashboard, which is a simple place that is accessible from any internet browser. After logging in, the Dashboard is where you can create pages, and change plugins/add-ons.
Webhostinghub provides Education Channels for both Concrete5 and Wordpress, and both content management systems can be installed easily from Softaculous. I recomend taking a look at the guides, which walk you through many of the common modifications.
Which software will work better for you depends on your skill level and what you are trying to accomplish with your website. For basic web design, or beginners I would recomend Concrete5, since it has a simple and easy to use interface. While Wordpress is also considered very easy, some steps can be more detailed, and vary depending on the specific theme or plugin you are using.
