As we begin a series covering working with blocks, in this tutorial we will introduce you to Concrete5 blocks. Blocks are essentially the pieces that make up a Concrete5 website.

Intro to Blocks - What is a Block:
Concrete5 breaks pages into editable sections or blocks, where each section can have its own content. The theme and type of page determines what blocks make up a website, and can be used. Concrete5 comes with a default set of blocks, but you can add additional blocks from the Concrete5 Marketplace. 

Blocks can add functionality such as YouTube videos, google maps, and slide-shows, surveys, forms or guestbooks among many others. The list of available blocks grows as additional options are added to the Marketplace. 

To view which blocks can be edited, Log into your concrete5 dashboard, and click the Edit button on the top right. Now when you roll your mouse over the page, areas where blocks can be added or edited will light up.
