In this guide we will cover using the Search Index option in Concrete 5. Concrete5 allows you to choose which pages or parts of pages are indexed, or crawled by search engines. This is helpful by allowing you to affect what content search engines are collecting and providing it's users. It can also stop Search engines from crawling your sites too heavily which can sometimes drive usage up.
If you want to globally control what is crawled on your sites, I recomend looking at our article that covers using a robots.txt file.
How to Use the Search Index Option:
|Blacklist: Every area but the selected areas are indexed.||When this option is selected, areas checked will not be indexed.|
|Whitelist: Selected areas are only areas indexed.||
When this option is chosen, only the selected areas are indexed.
