In this guide we will cover using the Search Index option in Concrete 5. Concrete5 allows you to choose which pages or parts of pages are indexed, or crawled by search engines. This is helpful by allowing you to affect what content search engines are collecting and providing it's users. It can also stop Search engines from crawling your sites too heavily which can sometimes drive usage up.

How to Use the Search Index Option:

1. Log into your Concrete5 Dashboard.
2. Roll your mouse over the Dashboard button on top, and click System & Settings. The System & Settings menu will come up.
3. Under the SEO & Statistics menu select Search Index, to bring up the Search Index menu.
   
   

   Option	Description
   Blacklist: Every area but the selected areas are indexed.	When this option is selected, areas checked will not be indexed.
   Whitelist: Selected areas are only areas indexed.	When this option is chosen, only the selected areas are indexed.

4. After making your selections, click the blue Save button on the bottom right.
