There may be periods of time when you must immediately remove the ability to purchase items from your shop.  Prestashop 1.5 has a mode in the Preferences called CATALOG MODE.  This mode will immediately disable all shopping options including the disabling the shopping cart, while keeping your site up on the internet.  The following tutorial will show you how to enable or disable CATALOG MODE and display some screenshots of the option.

How Enable Catalog Mode in the Prestashop 1.5 Administrator

  1. Login to the Administration Panel as an Administrator
  2. Hover over the menu bar where it says PREFERENCES, and then click on PRODUCTS in the drop down menu. Scroll down the list of options and look for Preferences: Products.  Select CATALOG MODE in the menu as shown below:

  3. Select YES to enable Catalog Mode and NO to disable it.  When Catalog Mode is enabled, all shopping features, such as the shopping cart are disabled.  The following screenshots show a shop with Catalog Mode OFF and then with Catalog Mode turned ON.

  4. Note:  Above screenshot shows products, but no options to purchase.  In essence, the site is a catalog.

  5. Select the green SAVE button in the top right hand corner to save your selection.

Disabling the shopping cart and other shopping features  of a site can serve as a temporary measure to prevent customer from purchasing items on the site, or be used as an option when the shop requires maintenance.  Catalog mode is useful since it keeps the site operational, but should be remembered as an option that primarily disables your shop.
