Occasionally, you will have a client who is simply not within the immediate shipping range of your carriers or has exceeded the maximum weight that can be shipped by certain carriers.  If that is the case, you need to set some ground rules for out-of-range shipping behaviors.  The following tutorial will guide you in setting the out-of-range behaviors for your shipping carriers in Prestashop 1.5.

Managing the Out-of-range Behavior for Carriers in Prestashop 1.5

  1. Login to the Administration Panel as an Administrator
  2. Hover over SHIPPING in the menu bar, then select CARRIERS from the drop-down menu.  You will see a list if you have carriers already created
  3. Create a new carrier option by clicking on the ADD NEW button.   Or, select the shipper that you need to modify, and click on EDIT to make changes
  4. Go to the CARRIERS section and scroll to OUT-OF-RANGE BEHAVIOR as per the screenshot below:

  5. Click on the drop-down menu and select either "Apply the cost of the highest defined range" or "Disable carrier" depending on your needs
  6. Select the green SAVE button to save your choice from the drop-down menu above

Managing the out-of-range-behavior for shipping is important because it will limit or set the shipper that the customer can use.  One good example of using this option is to create a specific carrier for this purpose.  With multiple carriers, you can set one specifically for the out-of-range-behavior.  The customer will only see the carrier available to them.  It will not say "out-of-range", but simply be the only option for shipping, unless you have more than one shipping option for an out-of-range situation.  With only one shipping option, the customer will see the following screenshot:

you will see a list
