What does localization mean in your PrestaShop store?  It means the languages, countries, currencies units of measurement, taxes, and time zones that your store supports.  PrestaShop provides support for these settings and also allows you to import and save your settings in order to configure your store according to your needs as well as those of your customers.  The following tutorial explains the different ares of localization within PrestaShop 1.5.

Understanding Localization in PrestaShop 1.5

1. Log in to the PrestaShop Admin Dashboard as an Administrator
2. Hover over the menu bar where it is labeled LOCALIZATION.  Click on LOCALIZATION when it appears. You will see a screen similar to the one below:
   
   
   There are 4 main areas:
   
   Import Localization Pack
   Configuration
   Localization
   Advanced
3. Scroll to the first section at the top of the screen - IMPORT LOCALIZATION PACK  - for further information on this section go to Importing Localization Packs in PrestaShop 1.5.
   
   
   
   
   This section is used to import localization modules that you would obtain typically obtain from Prestashop. 
4. Scroll to the next section labeled CONFIGURATION  - for more information on using this option, please go to Setting the Regional Configuration Settings in PrestaShop 1.5
   
   
   
   Configuration covers the options for language, country, currency, time zone - typically regional settings associated with a geographic area. 
   
   
   
   
5. Scroll to the next section which is labeled LOCALIZATION.  For further information on the settings for this section go to Configuring Localization in Prestashop 1.5.
   
   
   
   
   This section is used to set the units of measure that will be used as the default values within the shop.  This includes weight, distance, volume, and dimension units.
   
   
   
6. Scroll to to the Advanced section at the bottom of the LOCALIZATION screen.

Localization sets all of the pieces used by the website to communicate with your customers.  It is vital that you set these options correctly so that you PrestaShop stores can clearly convey the products you wish to sell. Remember to adjust these settings appropriately per your regional needs.
