In the previous guide in our Getting started in Wordpress series, we showed you how to write a post. Besides making Posts, you can also create Pages in WordPress to add additional content to your website.

What is a WordPress Page?

If you want to have a webpage that will always be available on your menu bar for your visitors to have easy access to, you can create a Page in WordPress. For example, if you have an online business you may create a Page to have a "About Us" or "Contact Us" section of your website. Page content is available to your visitors at all times and does not update with each post like your blog's home page.

How do I add a WordPress Page to my Website?

To add a Page, log into your WordPress Dashboard and click on the Pages link on the left menu:

page1

Click "Add New" on the sub menu that opens after clicking on Pages:

page2

The new window that opens is very similar to the window to create a new blog post. Once you have created your page (remember to put in a title as well for your new page), click on Publish on the right hand side and the page:

page3

Now on the menu bar of your WordPress website the page you just created will be added. You can add as many new Pages to your WordPress website as you need. While there is not a limit to the number of Pages that can be created, keep in mind that your menu bar may not appear as expected if you add more pages than the width of the menu bar allows. In the next tutorial we will show you how to configure your homepage in Wordpress.
