If you already have a blog site hosted on WordPress.com, you do not have to start all over again on your website at Web Hosting Hub. In fact, your blog site can be transferred from your wordpress.com to your WordPress site with us in only a few easy steps.

First, you will need to install WordPress onto the domain that is hosted with Web Hosting Hub.  This can be done automatically through Fantastico de Luxe.  For more information, please read our article on Installing WordPress.

If you were using your own domain name at WordPress.com and this is the domain you will be using for your Web Hosting Hub site, please make sure that you set up WordPress to work through your temporary URL here on Web Hosting Hub.

Changing your WordPress Permalinks (optional)

While this step is not required, we have found that this can make the import process a bit easier. Log into your new WordPress dashboard on Web Hosting Hub and change your Permalinks to Day and name. Log out of this WordPress dashboard.

Export Content at WordPress.com

Now that you have installed and configured WordPress in your Web Hosting Hub account, log into your Dashboard at your old WordPress.com site.  Then, click on the "Tools" option on the left hand menu.  This will open an expanded menu, click on "Export":

On the Export page, click on the "All content" radio button and then "Download Export File."  If a dialogue box appears, make sure that you choose to Save the file:

This will save a .xml file to your computer, make sure you remember where it saves to. 

Import Content to new WordPress Site

Now that you have saved your content, log back into your new WordPress Dashboard (installed in your Web Hosting Hub account).  Once you have logged in, click on Tools on the left hand menu.  This will open an expanded menu, click on Import. On the Import screen, click on WordPress:

You will need to install the WordPress Importer plugin to import your content.  The page will automatically pop up, click on Install:

Once it is installed, a new screen will appear.  On this screen, click on Activate Plugin and Run Importer:

Now you will be able to import your file.  Click on the Browse button and navigate to the location on your computer that has the .xml file.  Click on it, and it will display in the upload text box.  Now click on Upload file and import:

That is it!  Now your content from your WordPress.com site has been successfully imported.  Please check to make sure that all your content was transferred correctly before closing your WordPress.com account and changing your nameservers to point your domain to Web Hosting Hub.
