By default, when you send or receive email the messages are not encrypted.  This means that if the email was intercepted by a hacker, then they would have easy access to the contents of the email as it is not encrypted.  Most of the time this is not an issue, but if you are emailing personal or private information, it's a good idea to encrypt your email by connecting to our servers over an SSL encrypted connection.

In addition to security, many users move to using email over SSL due to port use restrictions by their ISP that prevents them from sending email. For example, many Internet Service Providers block port 25, which prevents their users from sending email over this default port. Sending email over an SSL encrypted connection requires that you go over another port other than 25, thus resolving the issue caused by ISP's blocking port 25.

SSL Settings

To use email over SSL, you'll need to update the settings below:

Incoming and Outgoing Servers

  • Most people are using mail.yourdomain.com as their incoming and outgoing server names. You will need to change these both to secure##.webhostinghub.com. You will need to replace ## with your server number. To find this, reference your Technical Details in AMP (Account Managment Panel) and find your temporary URL, which will look something like http://ehub22.webhostinghub.com/userna5. The server number is the number after "ehub" or "whub", in this case 22. In this example, you would change both your incoming and outgoing servers to secure22.webhostinghub.com

Port Numbers

  • When using SSL, ensure your email client has port 465 configured as the SMTP port. For your incoming email, set your POP port to 995. If you are using IMAP instead of POP, use port 993 instead.

Great article but where are the settings for SSL? Do not see them in Cpanel
Hello Dougw133,

Thank you for your question. I emailed your specific settings to your primary email on file.

You can also view your temp server information in AMP, click Details under Account & Billing, then click Account Details. Here is a link to an article titled "How do I find my account's technical information in AMP?"

Thank you,
