By default Mac Mail does not use the Sent folder for any emails that you send if it is configured for IMAP.  This can be easily set up however in just a few steps, so that any emails that you send using Mac Mail will also be saved on your server.

Step 1: Select the Sent folder in the left side that is listed under the IMAP folder

Step 2: Click "Mailbox" from the menu bar at the top, then go to "Use This Mailbox For" and in the box that opens up select "Sent." Now Mac Mail will use the Sent Folder in your account to store emails.
