PHPlist is a mailing distribution application that is available with your Web Hosting Hub account. It can be automatically installed through Fantastico in your cPanel and the files can be modified through the cPanel File Manager. This article is the first in our series of tutorials that will walk you through installing and properly configuring PHPlist for your site.
First, you will need to install PHPlist through Fantastico, which can be found in your cPanel in the Software/Services section. Below are step by step instructions for installing PHPlist:
|"Install on domain"||Please choose the domain name to install the software on.|
|"Install in directory"||This will be the folder where PHPlist is installed into. The directory should NOT already exist, Fantastico will create it for you. For this example, we will name ours newsletter.|
|"Admin access data"||Create a username and password. For security, it's recommended to use something other than admin which is a common default.
|"Base configuration / Admin e-mail"||Change this to your email address. This does not have to be the same address you created above in Step 2.|
|"E-mail account username"||Enter the full email address you created in Step 2. This email address is the address which will be used to send out messages and will receive bounce back notifications.|
|"E-mail account password"||Enter the password for the above email address.|
|"POP/SMTP server"||Change this to "localhost" (without the quotes).|
|"Choose the method of Processing Message Queue"||Choose "Manual"|
Now we can visit our PHP installation directory (in our example: whhsupport.com/newsletter) to see that PHPlist has been successfully installed:
