Microsoft Expression is the successor of Microsoft FrontPage. Expression is web design software to help you build your website. You can also Publish your website from Expression to your server at Web Hosting Hub.
Please note, this article is for new sites created in Microsoft Expression Web. If you are migrating a site from FrontPage to Microsoft Expression Web, please see our tutorial on how to publish a FrontPage Site with Microsoft Expression Web. Sites previously created with FrontPage need to be published through the FrontPage Server Extensions method in Expression Web. That tutorial will walk you through how to do exactly that.
- Begin by opening your Expression software. In the Menu, click on "Site" and selectPublishing Settings:

- On the next screen, click the Add button to create a new connection:

- Now you will fill out your server information to connect Expression to your server:

| Name: |
Here you can put in any name for your publishing settings |
| Connection Type: |
FTP |
| Location: |
Here you will use ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com. If that does not work, try just with ftp.yourdomain.com |
| Directory: |
public_html (if you're working with your main domain name. If you're working with an Addon domain use public_html/addondomain |
| User name: |
Your cPanel username |
| Password: |
Your cPanel Password |
| Use Passive FTP |
Make sure this box is not selected |
- Once you are done, click Add. Test your connection to make sure you are able to connect.
Now you are ready to publish your website!
Howdy,
I have follwed these instructions with limited success:
First, the directory to which the site is to be published is, indeed, public_html, but I discovered after lots of difficulty that the directory name is case sensitive . This article neglects to mention that.
Also, when I published using FTP as suggested, I had endless trouble with a form on our site. Experimenting, I tried the Expressions option of publishing using FrontPageExtensions, and all now works well...

I will be addressing that in this article today and will also write a new article for Expression Web so that we have separate instructions for people migrating FrontPage sites to Expression Web.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.
