PECL modules are C extensions (programs) that can be compiled into PHP. To determine if a particular PECL module is installed and enabled, you will want to create a phpinfo page and check for the specific PECL module you are looking to use in your PHP code. For step-by-step instructions on creating and using a phpinfo page, please see our article Viewing PHP Settings Using a phpinfo Page.

Many PECL modules are included as part of PEAR packages. If a module you want to install is not already on the server, check to see if it's part of a PEAR package. If it is, you can install that PEAR package. If you want to use a PECL module that isn't either already installed or isn't part of a PEAR package, you can submit a request to our Support Department for our Systems Team to review. Our Systems Team will then advise if the module can be installed and what the cost of the PECL module installation will be.
