For many google apps or to use the Google Webmaster Tools, you need to verify your ownership.  There are four ways to verify domain ownership:

  • Upload an HTML File.  Google will provide a .html file for you to upload onto your account.  Place the .html file into the host directory for your domain.  If you're verifying your primary domain, the host directory is public_html.  Once the file is uploaded, request Google to check for the file to confirm ownership.
  • Add a <meta> tag to your Home Page.  This will require you to edit the index page add the Google code to your header.  You can read more about meta tags and how to add them here.
  • Verify using Google Analytics Code.  If you use Google Analytics for a webstats tracker, Google can verify your ownership using the code.  This is the easiest way to verify the account if you already use Google Analytics.
  • Create a Text Record on your DNS.  This is the only option that requires Web Hosting Hub to make a change for you.  If none of the other steps work, we can assist you in verifying the domain ownership.  Just send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
