Like many other programs, Joomla will run more efficiently with a few tweaks to the settings.  Below we have outlined some recommended changes to help optimize Joomla.

How to Optimize Joomla

  1. Enable caching.
  2. Limit the number of articles and content that display on your front page
  3. In your Admin section > Global Configuration, enable debugging then check how many MySQL queries are being generated. This will help you find the plugins that are using the most resources.
  4. Disable any modules, componens, or mambots that you are not using. Plugins that collect data from external sites (social networking sites) tend to be attributed to site interruptions
  5. Try using a robots.txt file to limit search engine activity on your site to only parts that you want to be indexed
