A lot of times when a website is loading slowly, it is the images on the page that are the cause of the issue.  Having pictures on your website is great, but there are a few quick steps that you can take to help your site load the pictures faster.

In today's age, most people upload photos from their digital cameras.  As digital cameras take better and more clear pictures, they also create pictures that are very large in file size and will load slowly.  There are methods to resolve this issue, the easiest of which is to re-size the image.

By default, many cameras now make images as large as 1200 X 2000 when they are created, which is much larger then any website generally needs a picture.  Even if the picture is re-sized on the webpage, if the image is uploaded as the full unedited version it can be as large as 2 MB by itself.  To fix this, you will need to re-size your images in a graphics editor before you upload the image.

Many new Windows and Mac computers now also come installed with image editing software that can be used as well.
